Utility Knives

Utility knives serve multiple uses in a variety of tasks including building, woodworking, and packaging. They are made to cut and handle a variety of materials precisely, including cardboard, plastic, packaging tape, and textiles.

Typically, utility knives have a handle, a blade, and a place to store the blade. The blade may be safely stowed when not in use because it is retractable. Depending on the thickness of the material being cut, the blade of the knife can also be changed in length.

The knives come in a number of varieties including:

  • A retractable blade and a straightforward design are the most fundamental variety.
  • A segmented blade that can be snapped off to reveal a new cutting edge when it becomes dull is known as a snap-off knife.
  • Knives that may be used for a variety of tasks, such as cutting drywall, stripping wire, or scoring tile, come with interchangeable blades.

When selecting a utility knife, keep in mind things like the materials being cut, how often you'll be using it, and how comfortable the grip is to hold. In order to avoid mishaps and injuries when using utility knives, safety procedures must also be observed.
