More About Metalized Pouches & Foil Stand Up Bags

Metallic or Foil Stand Up Pouch Packaging Application

When choosing a foil stand-up pouch, you need to consider the item being packaged and the level of barrier protection you need. Our wholesale Flat foil pouches, with an aluminum barrier, that are heat sealable make great food, coffee, and tea bags because they are designed to seal in aromas and flavors. You would use a Metallized stand-up bag if you are packaging non-refrigerated food products such as powdered mixes and grains because you want a pouch with a high barrier to protect and preserve your products. Materials Used To Make Kraft Stand Up Pouches:

Below is a list of the different types and layers of films used to create our metallic foil stand-up barrier pouches. Choosing the correct materials ensures you get the needed barrier protection when packaging your product(s). • OPP: Good moisture barrier, good low-temperature resistance, good light barrier, and good stiffness. Applications include dry products, biscuits, popsicles, and chocolates.
  • VMPET: Vacuum Metalized Polyester Film, vacuum metalized film is usually designated to mean the polymer films with the surface deposited a thin layer of metal, usually aluminum in flexible packaging applications, through vacuum depositing
  • LLDPE: Linear low-density polyethylene. Tougher than LDPE and has better heat seal strength but has higher haze.
  • PE: Polyethylene: A simple thermoplastic polymer of ethylene. Highly puncture and tear resistant. Not affected by extreme temperatures. Does not possess barrier properties. Good clarity.
  • PET: Polyester, (Polyethylene Terephthalate): Tough, temperature resistant polymer. Biaxially oriented PET film is used in laminates for packaging, where it provides strength, stiffness, and temperature resistance. It is usually combined with other films for heat-seal ability and improved barrier properties
  • FOIL (AL or ALU): A thin gauge (6-12 microns) aluminum foil laminated to plastic films to provide maximum oxygen, aroma, and water vapor barrier properties. Although it is by far the best barrier material, it is increasingly being replaced by metalized films, (see MET-PET, MET-OPP, and VMPET) because of cost.
