Packing List Envelope Measuring and Materials

Packing Envelopes are made from a blended polyethylene plastic film in clear or white, which has been formulated for superior printability. Utilizing strong adhesives that make these Shipping Invoice Pouches stick well to cardboard, plastic, wood, glass, and metal. Special printed full faces and panel-style packing slip pouches make identifying shipping documents such as packing slips, invoices, warranty information, operation instructions, wiring diagrams, and manifest logs easy. When measuring self-adhesive packaging list envelopes remember that all sizes indicated are outside dimensions. Deduct 1/2 inch (13 mm) for inside dimensions. The first size listed is the opening where you insert your shipping documents. **Dimension sizes are subject to plus/minus 1/8-inch variance. NSN 8105-00-756-2710

Terminology

  • Back Load: Keeps documents secure in transit because they cannot be removed without destroying the envelope.
  • End Loader: Allows documents to be easily removed and reinserted.
  • Recessed Face: The envelope face is shorter than the back, so documents such as IBM, warehouse, or tracking cards can be easily inserted and retrieved.
  • Envelopes with Special Tape: Allows the envelope to be repeatedly opened and securely sealed to access documents readily. Especially good for international shipments
  • Waybill Pouch is a transparent envelope attached to the outside of a shipping container. Shipping documents are placed inside, and the plastic protects them from the elements.
  • Waybill - A waybill is a document included with a shipment of goods that contains information about the shipment.
  • Information - Information on a waybill typically includes the sender, the recipient, and an inventory of the items shipped. Waybills often serve as address labels as well.
  • Pouch - Waybill pouches are usually self-adhesive and self-sealing. You simply insert documents in the pouch, peel away a paper backing and affix the pouch to the container.
  • Advantage - Waybill pouches allow items to be shipped from inventory without cutting open cartons to put shipping documents inside.
  • Identification - A shipment of several containers may include only one waybill. Look for a pouch marked "Packing List" or "Invoice." That will usually be the waybill pouch.
